Spent some time searching for films of note for my research online. Found a disturbing situation: No where can you find The Jazz Singer (1926) on DVD. Only a used copy on VHS for $50.
What is happening in the world? You can get special collector’s editions of everything crappy from About a Boy to Zoolander, but you can’t get this??
Man. If Al Jolson can be forgotten, even the idea of immortality is false. If he ain’t immortal, we’re all dust.
That’s the existential quandary for today.
