Shot Down

Well, this is why you rarely see "New Years Miracle" movies, folks. No holiday magic came through for me today.

In one of the most romantic and impetuous things anyone has ever done for anyone, Murph tried again to cross into Canada last night, deciding there on the spot at 7pm last night that we needed to spend New Years together. He knew I was lonely and generally falling apart, so he decided it would be worth the risk of getting turned back again, just to cheer me up.

Well, it seems his record has been flagged, and he was sent back to Ohio again. Again. (This time by Buffalo, so we know there isn't just something screwy with Detroit.) However, this time he is at least safe and ok, and not tossed out on a Michigan highway at 2am. At least this time it is morning and he is not too bleary eyed to process the new development.

What now? Well, I guess we continue on with the original plan, and I will be heading to Ohio myself to see him after this infernal exam is done this Friday. I don't think there is any worry about me getting turned away at the border, but, then, one never knows, huh?

So maybe fate doesn't like it when people take the initiative and try to bust the system. That is why no one ever heard the line "fate helps those who help themselves". Well, at least the effort was made.

And it was truly a sweet effort.

Thanks for it.
