Got a nice email from a former student who heard through the grapevine that I am soon defending, to wish me luck and thank me for the things she learned in my class. That really made my day!
And, I know - I was lucky with the speed most of my advisors showed, but one reader said nothing at all to me between Decemner 2009 and February/March 2010, when he absolutely creamed me. :(
I wish they'd invent a computer program to replace secondary advisors.
